Debbie Gibson and Dr. Kellyann: a Beautiful Duet

Facing the Music
I’m a singer, songwriter, musician, actor, and America’s Original Pop Princess. Since my first #1 hit, “Foolish Beat,” lit up the Billboard Hot 100 back in 1987, I have sang, danced, and performed for millions and millions of people around the world, and crossed paths with fellow entertainers like Michael Jackson, New Kids on the Block, and Elton John. I had everything I could have ever dreamed of. But on the inside, I was running myself into the ground.
Underneath the glitz and glam of my popstar image, I’ve struggled with my health. Like many of you, I’ve dealt with bloating, brain fog, and complete exhaustion. And it’s disempowering.
I was dealing with the intense pressure to look a certain way, pressure to never say no, pressure to be perfect all while dealing with bloating, stomachaches, and my brain was always foggy. I was eating everything we’re told we should eat, but I felt awful. I felt like my body was polluting itself.
So you see, wearing all those blazers wasn’t just a fashion statement…sometimes they were hiding my bloated belly. I remember one night putting on my costume to perform on Broadway, and I was so bloated I couldn’t even zip it up. We pushed, we pulled, we huffed, we stuffed. It was so wild. I was in so much discomfort, I couldn’t go on stage that night. I was devastated. I’ve done thousands of shows, I’m a show-must-go-on girl, and that had never happened before.
It’s crazy to think back on it. I was playing sold-out arenas and yet there were days I couldn’t even get out of bed in the morning. As a performer, my body is my instrument. And when it isn’t at its best, the music is off. I just kept saying, ‘This is not my life. This can’t be my life.’
My lifelong, secret battle with my digestion began as young as 8-years-old. I remember my mom taking me to the doctor because I was having mysterious stomach aches and my mom asking the doctor, “Why does she look like a little pregnant lady?” The doctor, and I’ll never forget this, could hear the grumbling in my belly and said, “It sounds like a symphony in there.” (And not a pretty one.)
I went to doctor after doctor, but I could never get a long-term solution — just bandaids that were only temporary. No one could figure out what was wrong with me. I refused to accept this was my reality. Deep down in my gut – pun intended – I knew something else was going on and it wasn’t because I was getting older or because I occasionally treated myself to an almond croissant.
Changing My Tune
By 2014 I was hitting rock bottom as I was trying to perform back-to-back shows in Chile. I was in such dire straits I barely made the flight back home and spent the next ten hours laying across the floor in front of my row of seats on the airplane.
My entire body hurt and my brain was misfiring. Normally, I feel most alive when I’m performing, but on that trip I felt like I was on death’s doorstep and I looked it. At the time, no matter what I ate, I wasn’t absorbing nutrients. I just couldn’t keep the weight on, and I was starting to look more and more like a skeleton. I had no energy, and my face was covered in deep lines.
I don’t know how I made it through those concerts but thankfully I did and immediately started looking deeper for answers. After consulting dozens of medical experts, I finally discovered my microbiome was really out of balance. I made it my mission to learn everything and anything I could about the physiology of digestion. I read whatever I could get my hands on and consulted the experts and that’s when I found Dr. Kellyann.
Have you ever met someone and felt so connected from the start? That’s exactly what happened when Dr. Kellyann came into my life. I like to call her my health soulmate — we’ve rocked out behind the mic together and cooked up delicious Bone Broth recipes. When I think about it, we’ve shared so many similarities on our wellness journeys that it was destined for us to meet. Every nutritional tip she’s shared with me has totally reshaped my health and my life. My heart always feels so full after spending time with her.
And it’s Dr. Kellyann’s most important nutritional tip, how daily bone broth can support gut healing and rejuvenation, that helped me overcome a lifelong struggle with digestive issues, I am now a self-proclaimed bone broth expert and a loyal fan of this bone broth visionary who educates and empowers individuals to take control of their whole-body health.
Now, my face is glowing, the bloating stopped, and I have more energy now than I had in my 20s. And if I can help just one person pull themselves out of that dark place that I was living in for years and years, I’ll be overjoyed. Because this is unlike anything else. It’s easy, convenient, and it really, really works.
My Nutritional Instrument
When you have your health, you have your life and you have your stamina. And bone broth has been the biggest part of my gut healing process. It helps me stay clear and gives me calm, even energy. I sip on it for hours while I’m working, and it keeps me sustained. And it helps me eat healthy on the go.
It took me so long to realize how important gut health is and how supportive bone broth is to gut healing. Dr. Kellyann has taught me that the collagen in bone broth is a gut-supporting superfood that not only helps strengthen and balance your microbiome (which plays a big part in weight, digestion, energy, mood, and your immune system), but collagen also helps your skin, nails, hair, bones, and more. I’ve also learned that glycine, an amino acid that is abundant in bone broth, is essential for good health because your body uses glycine to create an important antioxidant that protects against cell damage and free radicals. Glycine is also great for your vital organs and muscles, and can even help improve sleep quality.
I highly recommend adding at least two cups to your day. That’s what I do! It’s my secret weapon for staying energized, hydrated, and keeping my gut in balance.
Instead of making a cup of coffee or tea… sip on a cup of Dr. Kellyann’s bone broth. Use it as an afternoon snack replacement… or before you go to bed for a deeper night’s sleep.
Because if you’re tired all the time, your stomach hurts, and your digestion is out of whack, well it’s really hard to live your best life. That’s why I’m so passionate about sharing what I’ve discovered to spare you years looking for answers.
Thanks to these tools, I’m in my 50s, feeling more in tune than ever. I have more stamina. I’m fit. And I’m finally free of constant poor digestion. I’ve really come a long, long way from my rock bottom.
Nothing Can Stop the Music
I’m now flying into a new chapter and I couldn’t feel better. I just released my 10th studio album called, The Body Remembers — my first in 20 years. I have a Holiday album coming out this year and this June I’m hitting the road for my solo U.S. tour to celebrate 35+ years singing my nostalgic hits and songs from my new critically acclaimed album.
I’m still chasing my dreams but now, with more energy than I had in my 20s and 30s! I’ve come a long way since my younger days. I feel lighter, clearer, and more powerful — and I have Dr. Kellyann and bone broth to thank!
Everybody has a journey, and we’re all trying to smooth out the edges. But I’m living proof that it’s never too late to take back your life. So, please don’t accept brain fog or lack of focus as just a sign of aging. Never give up and never quit searching for answers. Because you deserve to feel your best no matter where you are on your wellness journey.
Don’t let age hold you back. I never imagined I could feel this youthful!
Anything is possible,
Debbie Gibson
